“No, I am your father”
This is an iconic moment, and I am really curious about what went on in Luke’s mind during that fight? He didn’t seem to have enough time to process it. Based on the film, he had shown a brief moment of denial, but he accepted it rather quickly and remained calm throughout the escape with his bloody hand chopped off by his now father. This is got to be the fastest recovery from a traumatic event in the history of the galaxy. Maybe it was like what Darth Vader said, “Search your feelings, you know it to be true.” Luke’s foreseeing force might have prepared his mind for this revelation all alone, the told truth was just the ultimate confirmation.
In a roughly 10 mins window, besides all the physical challenges, Luke went from “He (Ben) told me enough” to recognizing Darth Vader as his father. Even though he seems fine in the film, it must be a roller coaster inside of his head. His last reaction verbally towards the traumatic confrontation was “Ben, why didn’t you tell me?” It was filled with frustrations and confusions. I am interested in building an interactive experience that simulates Luke’s mind at the moment of the traumatic event and
Tachyon Mic
In order to communicate with Luke’s mind, I need something that can send and receive voice messages across different dimensions and realities. After read through Dr. Rick Marshall’s works on space, time and continuum, I decided to utilize the Tachyon particles. Below is a prototype of the Tachyon Mic that is wired directly into Luke’s mind through a specific subtonic frequency. By flipping the metal switch, the Tachyon Mic will establish and visualized Luke’s mind. There will be a bright object that represents the collective presence of Luke. Guide the subject to safety – a piece of mind – by speaking relevant sentences. Words are powerful, especially ones that are associated with Luke’s conscious at the moment.
Kitbashing
This technique was made famous by the model builders of the first Star War movie. Kitbashing or model bashing is a practice whereby a new scale model is created by taking pieces out of other model kits (wiki). Tachyon Mic was built this way. A base structure was modelled on Tinkercade and printed out. Traditionally, people kitbash with tank and train plastic model kits. That is not my area of expertise, I used Gundam (Gunpla Builders Parts), Arm Girls, Keroro Gunso, and pretty much all the plastic toys I have. The process of seeking the right part is an awarding/addicting experience.
